How to share kettle files, shared.xml

I have shared different objects and they are stored in my file: "shared.xml" (BBDD connections, lookUps, table imput transformations, ....). Now, I want that a partner use my properties in his spoon applications, he has defined a variable: "KETTLE_HOME" pointing to my "home configuration" but when he runs his data integration always gives an error with the configuration. What can we do???
