Overview
The Pentaho BI Suite has the ability to generate a dataset, hand that dataset to a charting action, and deliver the results of that charting action. The process just described can be modeled in an action sequence.
The charting action results in a single chart and optionally an HTML map of drill-through URLS for the chart, both of which can be presented either to the browser or to the next step in an action sequence.
The ChartComponent or OpenFlashChartComponent of the BI platform builds the chart in an action sequence. The chart features, or properties, are described in XML and can be a separate file referenced by the action sequence, or embedded directly in the action sequence. The Chart Reference gives all of the details on how to build the different supported charts in the platform.
