Summary:
In Analyzer Reports, provide the ability to choose whether altered 'Display Names' appear at the top of 'Drill-through' columns OR whether the original names appear at the top of the 'Drill-through' columns.
Details:
When we set up and use 'Drill-through' on Analyzer reports (via Report Options> 'Drill-through links on measures'), the original Level or Measure name (the 'caption' in the schema) is displayed in the Drill-through table.
Likewise, if the Measure/Level name has been changed in the Pentaho User Console via the 'field list' on the far left of an 'edit analyzer report' screen (by right clicking the level name or the measure name, then selecting 'properties', then changing the name), then that altered Measure/Level name displays in the Drill-through.
However, if the Measure/Level name has been changed 'in the Analyzer Report itself'*, then the Drill-through column names do not change. They remain displaying the original name.
* 'in the Analyzer Report itself' means either:
a) In the Rows or Columns area, selecting the level name and then from the pull-down choosing 'Edit' to edit the 'Display Name'
or
b) In the Measures area, selecting the measure name and from the pull-down choose 'Column Name and Format' to edit the 'Display Name'
See screenshot example:
Altering the Display Name:
Result in the Analyzer Report and in the Drill-through:
The 'Help' for the 'Edit Column' screen says:
"The renaming has no effect outside the report and a user can always find out the original name by viewing the definition of the field"
So, this is 'working as designed'.
This Improvement is raised to request that the user be given an option to choose whether to either:
have the original caption (or the one changed via the field list) displayed in drill-through
OR
have the names edited 'in the Analyzer Report itself' displayed in the drill-through.
Reason for this request:
With heavily modified column/row names, the user would have to make a guess as to which original captioned column the Drill-through column relates to.
