Pentaho Community Edition (CE) software is available in three forms: source code that you can build yourself, continuous integration (CI) builds and released builds. See Community Edition Downloads for more details.
Released Builds
Released builds are classified Pre Release, Milestone, Release Candidate or Stable. They are built and posted to SourceForge.net in order to get wide distribution in the community. See Detailed Download Explanation for the full definition of these terms.
Pre Release
Kettle - The current version of Kettle is 4.3.0. It is the first open source release of the Big Data components and also the first Apache 2.0 licensed version of Kettle. The 4.3 Pre Release builds are available on SourceForge.net.
Download Kettle Client
The Kettle client package contains the Spoon UI for building, testing and running Kettle Jobs and Transforms.
- Windows - kettle-ce-win-bigdata-preview-4.3.zip
- Linux and Mac - kettle-ce-mac_linux-bigdata-preview-4.3.tar.gz
Pentaho Hadoop Node Distribution (PHD) - The PHD is a packaging of Kettle that allows Kettle Transforms to run on the Hadoop cluster. It must be installed on each node in the cluster. Note: We are currently working to remove the requirement for the PHD before the release of 4.3.0 Stable. At that time, the Kettle engine and it's resources will be automatically distributed to the nodes in the cluster. Download the version for your platform:
Pentaho Report Designer (PRD) - The current version of PRD is 3.8. It contains the 4.3 preview release of the Kettle engine including the Big Data components.
Download the Pentaho Report Designer
The PRD is a graphical designer that can generate reports from data streamed through the Kettle engine without
the need for any intermediate staging tables.
Release Candidate
- The Release Candidate of Kettle 4.3 is anticipated by the third week in February
Stable
- The Stable build of Kettle 4.3 is currently planned for the end of March. The actual date is fluid and depends on stability and quality testing
Continuous Integration Builds
The CI server builds are the latest builds of the latest code checked in. They are developer builds and should only be used if you want to try out the latest bleeding edge features and fixes. Never use a CI build for production.
